Diageo Debuts First Carbon Neutral Distillery in North America
Diageo, a global leader in beverage alcohol, just opened their first carbon neutral distillery, currently producing Bulleit Bourbon, right here in our hometown – Lebanon, Marion County, KY!
By partnering with Inter-County Energy and East Kentucky Power Cooperative the 72,000 square foot distillery operates using virtual metering technology, zero fossil fuels for production, and 100% renewable electricity. “This is a significant step in our journey to create a low carbon future and be part of the solution to tackle the ongoing climate crisis,” Perry Jones, President of North America Supply for Diageo, said.
The distillery has the capacity to produce up to 10 million proof gallons per year — enough to fill 3.8 million 9-liter cases! The central Kentucky site will support the local community with 30 full-time jobs while also sourcing 100% non-GMO corn locally.
