Purpose of Role: The purpose of this job is to repair and replace instrument, electrical, and mechanical systems, including piping and machinery supporting operating plants and utilities, maintaining and repairing instruments, motors, valves, rotating equipment and all equipment necessary for the plant operation. Mechanical Maintenance Technician will apply their mechanical technical expertise to safely carry out planned, reactive and emergency work scopes as assigned from the maintenance plan within the maintenance system (CMMS). The assigned work scopes will be carried out safely, accurately and on time to maximise plant and equipment uptime and protect Company assets within their lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Data collection and assessment of trends are fundamental to driving a data led decision making culture so it is imperative that required maintenance information is entered into the CMMS system accurately and in a timely manner
• Maintaining and repairing instruments, motors, valves, rotating equipment and all equipment necessary for the chemical plant operation
• Working with Operations to troubleshoot equipment upsets and determine path to repair
• Leading by example as part of the Grissan team, work safely at all times to promote a culture within the maintenance team where safe working practices are strictly followed to ensure compliance with all legal and internal requirements. By doing so you, your colleagues and visitors to the site will stay safe and you will be supporting the Maintenance Team Leader with the implementation of Company-wide culture of ‘Don’t Walk By’ (DWB), Work Safe/Home Safe. Actively report unsafe acts and conditions observed on site.
• Strictly follow documented Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Risk Assessments (RA) for all tasks to ensure safe systems of work and to ensure work is completed to the highest standard. Assist where required with the documentation of SOP’s and RA.
• Ensure that assigned work scopes are carried out safely, to the highest quality and carried out on time to meet the requirements of the maintenance plan, maximising plant uptime and protecting Company assets.
• Ensure a quick response time to reactive and emergency maintenance tasks to maintain a safe operation, maximise plant uptime and protect Company assets. Clean as you go and leave any work site at the same standard (or better) than previous, including company vehicles.
• Be involved in root cause analysis investigations for reactive and emergency maintenance to help prevent recurrence of the issue.
• Assist and be actively involved, where required, with the integration of site capital projects.
• Ensure required maintenance data is entered accurately and on time into the CMMS, and complete any other maintenance records/logs as required accurately and on time.
• Ensure stores procedures are strictly followed to allow the control of on site inventory so that required spare parts/consumables are always available when needed.
• Work as part of a team with a strong team ethic, sharing knowledge and best practices openly. Feel ownership for the overall site performance.
• Identify training requirements in conjunction with Maintenance Team Leader and complete required training. Ensure that for all training you undertake, that there is a training record completed and filed. Complete PDP’s in line with Company procedures.
• Ensure that opportunities for continual improvement for systems and processes identified are communicated to Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Team Leader and be actively involved in the implementation of continual improvement projects.
• Working towards a high performing team culture, attend and contribute appropriately to team/site meetings.
• Endeavor to assist maintenance and site team where required with overtime, out of hours support during emergency breakdowns or during maintenance shut down periods.
• Executing preventative maintenance plans to maintain equipment reliability such as calibrations, alignments, lubrications, etc.
• General construction including shop fabrication, machining, and small welding jobs

Qualifications:

• A minimum of a High School diploma or GED equivalent is required
• 2 or more years of multi-craft maintenance work experience in a chemical plant, packaging facility or a skilled trade using similar skills such as a Pipefitter, Millwright, Electrician, or HVAC technician is required
• Experience using a CMMS System
• Ability to be on call as needed at night and on weekends.
• Proficient in computers to perform job tasks is required.
• The ability to work overtime as needed, including nights, weekends, and holidays is required.

Preferred:

• Associate’s degree in a maintenance, electrical or I&E discipline.
• 3 or more years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge and experience of working with a CMMS system e.g. Agility, Maximo, SAP
• Some knowledge of the industry/sector or a comparable industry.
• Knowledge and experience of permit to work system
• Knowledge and experience of supervising third party contractors

• Safe chemical handling
• Equipment Troubleshooting – Systematic, step-by-step process for identifying the root cause of a malfunction and implementing a solution to restore the equipment to its intended working condition.
• Process Control – The application of a systematic method for managing and adjusting a dynamic system’s variables to maintain it within specified limits and to achieve a desired outcome.
• Process Equipment – Machinery and devices that alter raw materials or products through chemical or physical means to achieve a desired outcome. An understanding of how this equipment operates is critical for this role.

Physical Requirements
Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:

• Ability to work comfortably and safely at elevated heights. Candidates must be familiar with, or willing to undergo training in, the proper usage and maintenance of safety equipment to ensure safe movement and operations at heights.
