Recreation

Foundational to our community’s quality of life, economic health, and sustainability are our cultural and recreational opportunities. Residents and businesses continue to place high value on these services and have historically invested in these facilities and services (trails, swimming pool, parks, and schools). We round out our facility and service offerings to ensure a robust cultural, parks, and recreation portfolio for our businesses, industries, residents, and visitors.

Public recreation facilities in Lebanon and Marion County include tennis courts, playgrounds, year-round indoor aquatic center, seasonal outdoor water slides, covered picnic pavilions, outdoor picnic areas, baseball and softball diamonds, volleyball courts, disc golf, soccer fields, football fields, and walking and jogging tracks.

Sportsman’s Lake, near the Lebanon City Limits, is a public recreation area owned by the Commonwealth of Kentucky and operated by Marion County. The lake and surrounding area offers a clubhouse, playground, and facilities for fishing, picnicking, archery, and swimming.

Fagan Branch Reservoir features the 3.1 mile Cecil L. Gorley Nature nature trail surrounding the reservoir. The trail includes 40 log footbridges and opportunities to see our abundant wildlife and forest fauna. Also permitted in our reservoir are fishing and small outboard engine boating.

Marion County is home to 2 country clubs. The Lebanon Country Club is a privately owned facility offering a 9-hole golf course, a swimming pool, and tennis courts. The Rosewood Golf and Country Club offers an 18-hole golf course, a swimming pool, lively bar, and fine dining. Log cabins and hotel rooms are available for overnight or extended visits.

Lebanon proudly offers a number of fitness centers based on your personal and family exercise regimens. We have privately operated fitness centers (with multiple cardio equipment, muscle development equipment, and cross training programs). Marion County High School also opens its fully equipped fitness center, with the latest in exercise equipment, to the public.

Marion County prides ourselves on our quality of life. We have a track record of businesses locating here because of our quality of life, and we have clearly shown that we are environmental stewards of our natural resources and possess a robust, active system of parks and recreation programs for public use and enjoyment. Come see for yourself.
