Safety Manager-Kentucky Cooperage
We are looking for a Safety Program Manager to join our team! This position is critical to Kentucky Cooperage’s ability to care
for people, property, and the environment, ensuring our most valuable resource, our employees, works safely every day. In this
role, you will assist the Director of Corporate Safety in managing all safety accident prevention and regulatory compliance
programs and includes such activities as monitoring, correcting, and documenting safe and unsafe work practices. In addition,
they are expected to stay updated on the latest trends in health and safety and implement these practices in the workplace.
Develop Safety Execution Plan that promotes safe work practices as per the Corporate Safety Director’s policies and
company programs
Responsible for managing and coordinating activities assigned to the Safety Coordinators
Lead and participate in daily safety meetings
Schedule and perform field safety audits and monitor work performance for safety compliance.
Lead investigations of “Near-Miss” and Accidents
Take corrective actions when and where needed to correct safety issues that are non-compliance with safety policies and
Coordinate and promote “Safety Awareness” effort and safety incentive program
Maintain a log and document audit results, “Near Misses”, accidents, safety meetings and topics, and any corrective
actions are taken to correct an unsafe condition or work practice.
Communicate with Management and Supervisors audit results and corrective actions taken
Maintain, administer, and enforce company-wide safety policies and procedures
Ensure company compliance with federal and state safety and environmental regulations
Provide technical safety and health support to production and office personnel
Maintain corporate safety and health programs, and assess and recommend areas of improvement
Coordinate with others on worker’s compensation and return to work issues
Serve as the primary contact with all federal and state environmental agencies
Coordinate and facilitate regulatory inspections
Conduct hazard assessments and develop recommendations
Liaise with legal counsel where appropriate
Bachelor’s degree required
5 plus years of related field experience with progressive responsibilities preferred
Strong knowledge of health and safety best practices and legal requirements
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the workforce and management
Strong organizational skills and the ability to work to a timeline and meet deadlines
Ability to deal with regulatory agencies, advisors, and other outside parties
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
Strong computer skills (MS Office / Outlook)
First aid/CPR certification preferred; Candidate to assist with medical response and helping coordinate potential followup care for injured.
Ability to work under pressure and make strong decisions
Strong verbal and written communication skills
