PRN Supply Chain Technician

Employment Type: PRN (As Needed)
This position will be ” as needed” so will be some weeks w/o working. During training process will be working up to 40 per week however then from time to time to cover vacations, sick, etc.

Job Summary

The PRN Supply Chain Technician supports hospital operations by ensuring the accurate receipt, storage, distribution, and management of medical supplies, equipment, and inventory. This position plays a critical role in maintaining efficient supply flow to clinical departments while promoting patient safety, cost control, and regulatory compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Professional Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, verify, and stock incoming medical supplies, equipment, and inventory shipments.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels by replenishing supply rooms, PAR locations, and departmental stock areas.
  • Perform routine inventory cycle counts, investigate discrepancies, and update inventory records.
  • Pick, prepare, package, and deliver medical supplies to patient care units and hospital departments in a timely manner.
  • Apply FIFO (First-In, First-Out) inventory practices and monitor expiration dates to ensure product safety and compliance.
  • Process supply requests and respond efficiently to urgent department needs.
  • Assist with product recalls, vendor returns, inventory conversions, and supply replacements.
  • Maintain clean, organized, secure, and compliant storage areas.
  • Utilize inventory management systems, including Oracle or similar platforms, to track stock levels, create replenishment orders, and maintain accurate records.
  • Collaborate with nursing teams, purchasing departments, vendors, and hospital staff to support uninterrupted patient care.
  • Follow hospital safety procedures, infection prevention standards, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in warehouse operations, logistics, inventory management, or healthcare supply services preferred.
  • Basic computer skills with experience using inventory systems, barcode scanners, and data entry tools.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively within a team environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain standing or walking for extended periods.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn inventory management systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with healthcare supply chain systems (e.g., ERP/inventory management platforms).
  • Knowledge of medical supplies, surgical products, and hospital workflows.
  • Previous experience working in a hospital or clinical environment.

Schedule Requirements

  • PRN/on-call scheduling based on departmental needs.
  • Must be available to work varying shifts, weekends, holidays, or short-notice coverage as needed.
