Part-time Youth Minister/Ministerial

POSITION: Youth Minister                                                                                                                                              General Supervisor: Pastor

Position Purpose: To direct and lead youth in 6th Grade through 12th Grade.  The youth minister shall seek to foster Christian community through building relationships with youth people that strengthen their commitment to the church and growth in faith in Jesus Christ.

Qualifications:
* One who exhibits a personal and growing relationship with God a teachable spirit.
* One who possesses experience in youth ministry, basic administrative skills, and a personal spiritual life congruent with biblical mandates for leaders.
* One who is gifted and is called to youth ministry, loves young people , and has a passion for evangelism and outreach, both personally and at the ministry level.
* An engaging teacher, with Biblical and theological background, who is in agreement with Lebanon Baptist Church’s mission statement: Loving God, experiencing Grace and transforming lives.
* One who possess relational skills enabling them to connect with students, parents and staff.
* Must consent to local, state and federal background check and drug test.

Responsibilities: Subject to review and adjustment in conjunction with the Pastor, the following constitute the major responsibilities of the Youth Minister of Lebanon Baptist Church.
The youth minister Shall:
1. Support youth and adults in planning and programming that promotes community through fellowship, fun and faith development. Meet with youth every Wednesday night and one event, such as lunch on Sunday, once a month. Organize and attend a summer camp and a winter event.  Other activities might also include musical and dramatic presentations, small group Bible study, retreats, mission work, age-appropriate service projects, teaching Sunday school and attending evening and weekend fellowship.
2. Be available to and support of the Lebanon Baptist Church youth by being involved and attending youth activities outside of church. For example -sports events, concerts, extracurricular school activities. Coordinate the youth ministry with the ministry of the total church.
3. Build relationships with the parents of the young people in the youth group and members of the congregation to encourage and support our youth ministry.
4. Work with our Pastor to provide additional educational educational and missions opportunities through the church.
5. Attend at least one workshop and personal growth conference, provided by the church, to stay informed on new and effective ways to implement youth ministry.
6. Be a self-motivated leader capable of establishing long-range goals and short-term objectives for ongoing youth ministry in the life of the church.
7. Submit a yearly youth budget for approval of the Board of Trustees.
8. Dress appropriately and maintain proper hygiene.
9. Maintain contact with students and parents, keeping them informed of ongoing activities.
10. Coordinate the youth ministry with the ministry of the total church.
11. Perform other reasonable and relevant duties as negotiated.

Expectations:
Grow Lebanon Baptist Church youth ministry in meaningful ways.
Seek mentoring by the Pastor, remaining accountable and responsive to his oversight of the Youth Pastor’s ministry.
Attend workshop services and staff meetings.
Present semi-annual ministry updates and goals for the coming year to the Pastor and deacons.
Participate in a job performance review upon completion of the first six months of employment. (A favorable evaluation will result in a salary increase.) Thereafter participate in an annual job performance review.
Present a yearly youth budget proposal.
Stay current with youth ministry practices by reading, youth leadership conferences, etc., as offered by the church.
The youth minister is expected to work a minimum of twenty (20 hours per week, which shall include Sunday school, Sunday Worship, Wednesday activities, office hours (to be determined in conjunction with the Pastor), and other ministries with the  youth.
