JOB TITLE Farm Systems Maintenance Specialist
REPORTS TO: Operations Manager

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for key support in maintaining a number of diverse farm facilities. It
requires an experienced professional familiar with electrical systems and applications of the type used in
grain facilities, seed processing systems and drying facilities. The post requires knowledge of Phase 3
electric, as well as familiarity with construction projects and installs.
As Systems Maintenance Specialist you will identify problems and bring solutions in a hands-on role,
capable of making decisions, and guiding others. This job requires broad skills and awareness of many
types of mechanical systems such as conveyors, commercial dryers and others.
This role requires good communication with operators and suppliers; the ability to be flexible and
adaptive in finding solutions; and the ability to be disciplined and methodical in handling projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Reports directly to the Farm Manager and coordinates a maintenance schedule and plan for all
Peterson Farm systems, specifically grain storage and handling facilities, a seed processing
facility, irrigation equipment and a commercial drying facility.
• Performs electrical and other maintenance jobs as scheduled, providing estimates of the work
required, including time and valuation of parts and materials required.
• Adequately tests repairs to assure quality of work.
• Assures safety and security procedures are in place and followed at all work sites. Helps to
creates a 0-Accident culture.
• Negotiates and orders materials required for maintenance work, and/or new construction
projects so that work can be completed on time and on budget.
• Provides good records of all repairs, including time in the job and materials used. Reports
periodically to the Farm Manager.
• Is available for emergency repairs, particularly in peak seasons. Is open and eager to provide
solutions at critical times in the farm operation. This responsibility includes traveling to the
different facility locations.
• Collaborates with others to find solutions to system challenges and problems.
• Performs other duties as may be assigned.

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED
• Knowledge and understanding of electrical systems.
• Knowledge and understanding of hydraulic systems, conveyors and other plant operations.
• Knowledge and understanding of irrigation systems, electrical and plumbing applications.
• Good communication and listening skills to identify problems and address them thoroughly.
• Strong personal scheduling and time management.
• Ability to provide clear reports to management.
QUALIFICATIONS
• 2-5 years or more experience with a commercial plant and/or farm system.
• Working knowledge of electrical systems.
• Familiarity with construction projects a plus. As well as familiarity with fabrication and plumbing
or other trade skills.
• Able and open to working extended hours based on seasonal demands.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION
– Valid driving licensed driver with safe driving record
– Capable of lifting materials up to 100 lbs.
– Able to be physically perform maintenance tasks.
