Job Duties:

Develop and maintain a safety culture that provides a safe work environment and ensures all applicable regulatory requirements and proper 5S are met and followed in pursuit of company goal of 0 accidents.

Supports company annual safety/environmental goals by assisting in the development and implementation of the annual Hoshin Plan while promoting Hoshin activities through PDCA.

Develop and conduct safety training programs (ex. new hire safety orientation, OSHA required training, other safety training requested by FTSKY management, etc.)

Develop and maintain safety procedures required by OSHA, DOT, EPA, and FTSKY management (ex. LOTO procedures, safety policies, job hazard analysis, etc.) Main purpose is to identify and correct occupational safety, health, and environmental hazards before they occur. Also meet with government officials and insurance representatives during inspection visits.

Take proactive role in assisting with new processes and building projects by providing required information as to Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations with strong emphasis on ergonomic risks.

Direct and coordinate FTSKY Emergency Management Program including maintaining fire alarm and fire suppression systems.

Develop and conduct all required safety inspection programs (ex. emergency exits, emergency lighting, fire suppression system, fire alarm, etc.)

Complete all reporting for permits, licenses, other filings as required by Federal, State and Local law, Workers Compensation and customer requirements.

Take lead role in facilitating and supporting accident investigations utilizing sound root cause analysis for short and long-term countermeasure activity.

Assist Human Resources Manager with ISO14001 Environmental Management System and other related activities. Act as alternate Environmental Management Representative during their absence.

Actively retain First Aid and CPR certifications and administer care as needed to FTS team members.

Lead and develop internal safety committee with Kaizen activities.

Supports operations in maintaining compliance with laws and regulations as relates to employment, safety, environmental, etc.

Promotes a positive work environment/good team member morale through proper 5C.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Environmental/Health/Safety related field preferred. Past experience in relative fields may substitute.
  • Prefer at least 1 year manufacturing experience in Safety/Environmental
  • Proficient to at least intermediate level in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate a collaborative work style with other departments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. (ex. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to effectively present information or respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or managers. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals, etc.)
