SUMMARY The Technical Engineering Manager/Asst. Manager directs and coordinates activities related to planning, developing, implementing, and improving of all equipment and processes required for manufacturing. Keeps next level of management informed of any problems and/or issues by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Develop and manage Hoshin, Budgets, Tamazume and KPI as required to meet company
targets
2. Give direction, monitor and support to team members to achieve targets and objectives.
3. Responsible for supporting and identifying potential problems or abnormal conditions to ensure
that countermeasures are in place to resolve and improve such issues.
4. Interface with customers and suppliers.
5. Provide proper training/opportunities/instruction to team members to enhance and level up
their skills.
6. Lead with strong proactive activities for internal and external (ex. TGNA sales, vendors and
customers) to achieve smooth new program launches and processes.
7. Budget planning and management.
8. Develop/maintain preproduction/production systems that pertains to management of programs
based on quality standard requirements.
9. Maintain awareness and understand the roles and responsibilities regarding the environmental
policies, management system, and objectives and targets by attending the required training.
Perform all tasks in accordance with the EMS procedures and practices and minimize the
impact of their activities on the environment.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES The Technical Engineering Manager/Asst. Manager manages all employees of the engineering department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Strong project management skills including negotiation experience of projects greater than $1
million.
Ability to read and thoroughly understand drawings and specifications and identify critical
quality characteristics needed to control in order to establish a reliable process.
Ability to perform design reviews, PFMEA development/updating and root cause analysis.
Skilled in visual management and presentations. Able to both explain the problem and request
approval.
Knowledge of Japanese manufacturing concepts- 5S, 2S1F, TPS, etc.
Management attributes for a cross cultural work force
Experience with Toyota and Honda in a supplier setting and understanding of their SQAMs
and specifications.
Negotiation skills in relationship to product development with customers.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering or equivalent discipline and a minimum of 5 years in engineering role – preferably with leadership experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Clear, concise written and verbal skills and problem solving skills required. Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, and standards. Ability to speak effectively before groups of team members.

TECHNICAL SKILLS Microsoft Excel, Visio, Word, and Project experience Skilled in using AutoCAD or other drafting software

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Principles of calculus, trigonometry, thermodynamics, and other advanced topics in math for analysis, design, and troubleshooting are necessary. Ability to perform high level mathematical calculations and to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, and sampling theory.

REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several variables.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to chemicals or molten resins which will require special PPE.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED WORK HOURS

This is a full-time position and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Overtime throughout the week and weekend may be required as job duties demand.
