The Diageo Lebanon Distillery is the newest addition to Diageo’s North American Distillery portfolio. The Bulleit brand is undergoing significant growth and this is a key role in ensuring we continue to deliver high-quality whiskey to meet consumer demands.

As a member of the Distillery Quality Team, the Quality Laboratory Technician is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the site’s laboratories, ensuring product quality and assisting with the site’s ISO 9001 certification.  The Quality Laboratory Technician will be integral in ensuring that key testing criteria are completed and communicated in a timely manner.  A high level of decision making is required for the acceptance criteria.

Essential Functions

    • Monitor testing of incoming grain to ensure conformance to specifications.
    • Conduct extensive analytical testing on fermentation and distillation samples to ensure adherence to specifications.
    • Operation, maintenance and calibration of various laboratory instruments, including HPLC.

    • Operation, maintenance and calibration of various laboratory instruments, including HPLC.
    • Schedule yearly calibration of all laboratory instruments with the OEM or third – party calibration company.
    • Conduct ongoing yeast cell counts and viability.
    • Site Super User for laboratory database/manage lab records.
    • Contribute to sensory taste panel for whiskey distillate
    • Maintain Sensory Laboratory, sensory standards, and sample shipping.
    • Create and maintain laboratory testing procedures.
    • Support compliance to ISO 9001 and the Quality Management System.
    • Deliver on Quality objectives as assigned.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager

Qualifications and Experience Required

    • Must be of legal age (21) by start date.
    • Science Degree/ Diploma required plus 2-3 years of analytical experience in a laboratory or in a food/ beverage manufacturing environment, Distillery experience preferred.
    • Experience with HPLC.
    • Demonstrated laboratory testing capabilities.
    • Proficient with computers, having good skills with MS Excel. Knowledge of SAP is an asset.
    • Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
    • Strong communication and writing skills.
    • Strong organization skills.
    • Experience with ISO 9001, SQF, BRC or similar Audit Standard is preferred.
